Slaven Bilic named new head coach for Chinese(CSL) side Beijing Guoan

The former Westbromwich Albion manager has been named the new head coach for Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan on a two-year contract.

The experienced Croatian coach replaces former French gaffer Bruno Genesio in the duggout after the Frenchman was relied of his duties over a month ago.

Beijing Guoan finished third place in the 2020 Chinese Super League and was knocked out of the 2020 AFC Champions League by South Korean side Ulsan Hyundai in the quarter-finals who later went on to win the competition.

Slaven Bilic has had a wonderful managerial career so far, he managed the Croatian National Team to the finals of the 2008 and 2012 European Championship respectively. He also had stints with Russian side Locomotive Moscow and Turkish giants Beskitas.

Slaven Bilic returned to England in the 2019 summer, where he was named coach for Westbromwich Albion.His side finished second with a whopping 83 points out of 48 games earning him automatic qualification into the English Premier League.

Subsequent disappointing run of results this season led to his sacking by the club last month. Slaven Bilic only won one out of 16 games for the albion side. His last game in charge was his famous 1-1 all draw with current league leaders Liverpool FC.

Slaven Bilic will lead Beijing Guoan to this years AFC Champions League together with champions Jiangsu Suning, runner ups Guangzhou Evergrande, and Shandong Luneng who won the Chinese Super Cup.
