The Madagascan has been declared ineligible for a second term in office by the FIFA Council after failing to pass an eligibility test.

Ahmad Ahmad was given a five-year ban by FIFA after being found guilty of breaching ethics codes.

The chamber adjudicatory of FIFA charged the boss of African football with breached rules relating to duty of loyalty, offering and accepting gifts or other benefits, abuse of position and misappropriation of funds. Mr Ahmad Ahmad was hit with a five-year ban from all football related activities and was fined CHF 200,000 (£160,000/$220,000).

Ahmad Ahmad declared his intentions to run for a second term last in office last month but unfortunately struck with COVID-19 virus which forced him to hand over the mantle to Vice-President Constant Omari as he continued his road to recovery.

Former President for the Ivory Coast Football Federation Jacques Anouma has been cleared by FIFA Council to contest for the CAF Presidency position.

The Governance Commission of the African Football Confedration, an independent body of CAF chaired by Ivorian Michel Brizoua-bi studied the eligibility of the candidates who submitted their forms.

The commission read, Jacques Anouma as a candidate with a clear vision of strategy to be developed. With a motto “Our vision of a strong and conquering CAF” is reflected in footballing project termed as “SERVING AFRICAN FOOTBALL”.

Mayor of Goree and president for top-flight side US Goree Mr Augustin Senghor has also been given the eligibility mantle by the FIFA Council to stand for the CAF Presidency position in March 2021.

Augustin Senghor,chairman for Senegalese Football Federation (SFL)  has been a member of the CAF Executive Committee since 2019.

He has served as the president of the Senegalese Football Federation since winning the election in 2009 and has since held the mantle up to date.

Given clearance by the FIFA Council, Augustin Senghor will contest for the CAF Presidency position come March 2021 in Morocco.

Mamelodi Sundowns President Patrice Motsepe and Mauritanian Football President Ahmed Yahya the other two candidates for the position will undergo further checks by FIFA.
